Roots to Success: Vision Boards with Sports Key
On 29 September, EmployabilityUK, as part of our Roots to Success programme, delivered one of our fantastic Vision Board sessions to a group of young people from Birmingham CIC, Sports Key. The young people Sports Key works with are looking to progress their careers or pursue further or higher education.
Our longstanding supporter and volunteer, Tim Bishop, was on hand to deliver a powerful, enthusiastic session with support from Krys Nosek, which was thoroughly enjoyed by all involved.
The group listened intently as Tim discussed the value of future planning, goal setting, and the importance of a clear focus on a career.
Beyond planning ahead, Tim also talked about self-reflection and introspection, encouraging attendees to think about “how to get to achieving their aspirations.”
Following the presentation, the young people took part in their very own vision board session, putting together a visual representation of their goals and aspirations before presenting their work to their peers.
Krys Nosek commented: “It was a fabulous session, and it was really great to see the young people so engaged in sharing their hopes for the future.”
Jermaine Pitterson, Director and Volunteer Coordinator at Sports Key, said: “It was great to see our youth volunteers visually manifesting their goals and openly expressing, communicating and presenting their dreams to each other with such confidence, along with their shared enthusiasm for creating their vision boards.”
