EmployabilityUK has begun its National Employability Week 2026 activity early with a major employer experience hosted by Carter Thermal Industries Group Ltd in Birmingham.
National Employability Week officially takes place from 6 to 10 July, but with such a strong opportunity available for young people, EmployabilityUK was delighted to start its activity ahead of schedule.
A large group of learners from EmployabilityUK Founder Partner Colleges visited Carter Thermal Industries Group Ltd to gain first-hand insight into careers in engineering, manufacturing, sustainability and modern industry.
The day gave young people the chance to step inside a real workplace, meet industry professionals and explore the pathways available to them. Activities included an industry overview, a factory tour, insight into sustainability and Net Zero, careers and apprenticeship discussions, direct engagement with Carter colleagues, and networking.
The visit is a strong example of meaningful employer engagement in action: real people, real workplaces, real pathways and real opportunities.
The experience was particularly valuable because Carter Thermal Industries Group Ltd currently has live apprenticeship vacancies. This meant learners were not only hearing about future possibilities, but visiting an environment where those possibilities could become real.
National Employability Week highlights the importance of giving young people the confidence, contacts, experience, employer insight and clear pathways they need to progress. It also supports employers to connect with motivated future talent, while helping colleges build strong partnerships that place employability at the heart of progression.
