EmployabilityUK Attends Birmingham Children’s Trust Care Leavers Conference

Dec 2, 2022

The EmployabilityUK team was delighted to have been invited to attend the Birmingham Children’s Trust Care Leavers Conference at The Lighthouse Young People’s Centre in Birmingham.

We joined 25 other exhibitors as we spoke to young people that are either in or recently left the care system, with a firm focus on their futures and what they hope to achieve.

Krys Nosek was on hand to represent the charity and had individual discussions with a diverse audience, listening to their aspirations and delivering impromptu advice and guidance on the best way to bring their ambitions to fruition.

The event also provided us with the opportunity to speak to other businesses and providers from across the region, learning more about the support available to care leavers across the region and discussing ways that we may be able to combine our efforts in the future for even better delivery.

Other attendees included representatives from the NHS, Balfour Beatty, South and City College and Birmingham City Council. Not only did the young people in attendance get to hear about the opportunities that may be available to them in the future, but some of our fellow attendees even discussed current vacancies available within their organisations, some with immediate start dates.

Beyond that, EUK and fellow attendees were happy to share advice on improving CVs, getting application forms and cover letters right and understanding what to expect from the interview process.
